TITLE:  Senior facilities Engineer
REPORTS TO:  nd production Manager

Location: Denver, CO

OVERVIEW: 

KODA Resources is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Engineer, based in our Denver office, to lead the design, optimization, and reliability of surface facilities supporting upstream and midstream operations in the Williston Basin. This role serves as the technical lead for facilities engineering on the asset, overseeing production facility design, equipment specification, and capital and operating expenditure projects from concept through startup. The position requires regular travel to Williston Basin field operations to support project execution and operational needs. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in oil and gas surface facilities, strong working knowledge of Bakken/Three Forks operating conditions, and the ability to lead cross-functional projects involving production, drilling, completions, midstream, and regulatory teams.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilities Design & Engineering
• Lead the design, sizing, and specification of production and midstream facilities including separators, tanks, heater treaters, pumps, compressors, pipelines, and gas processing equipment.
• Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and plot plans for new and modified facilities.
• Perform engineering calculations for equipment sizing, pressure relief systems, and flowline/pipeline hydraulics.
• Lead facility design reviews and ensure designs meet applicable codes, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and bid packages for facility construction and equipment procurement.
Project Management
• Manage facilities capital projects from conceptual design through commissioning and startup, including budget, schedule, and scope.
• Coordinate with drilling, completions, and production teams to align facility readiness with well delivery schedules.
• Oversee third-party engineering firms, fabricators, and construction contractors on facility projects.
• Track project costs against AFEs and provide variance reporting to leadership.
• Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future facility designs.
Operations & Reliability Support
• Provide engineering support to field operations for troubleshooting facility performance, equipment failures, and process upsets.
• Identify and lead facility optimization projects to improve uptime, throughput, and operating efficiency.
• Support development and maintenance of facility maintenance plans in coordination with operations and maintenance teams.
• Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews for facility modifications.
Cross-Functional Support
• Serve as the primary facilities engineering resource for the Williston asset from KODA's Denver office, supporting production, midstream, land, and regulatory teams through regular travel to the field.
• Support permitting, right-of-way, and regulatory filings related to facility construction and operation.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to field staff.
• Collaborate with HSE to ensure facility designs and operations support a safe working environment.

knowledge and skills:

• Advanced knowledge of upstream and midstream oil and gas surface facility design, including separation, storage, treating, and gas handling equipment.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles, including PHA, MOC, and relief system design
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (API, ASME, NFPA) as they apply to facility design.
• Familiarity with Bakken/Three Forks operating conditions, including cold-weather design considerations.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent capital projects, contractors, and engineering vendors.
• Proficiency with engineering design and modeling software (e.g., AFT, HYSYS, Piper, Pipesim AutoCAD, or similar).
• Strong understanding of pipeline and flowline hydraulics, corrosion management, and produced water handling.
• Familiarity with PHMSA and state regulatory requirements applicable to gathering and production facilities is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to budget, schedule, and quality.

WORK CONDITIONS:

• Primarily office-based environment in Denver, with periodic travel to Williston Basin operational sites.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme cold and weather typical of the Williston Basin, during field travel.
• Occasional extended hours and travel during project commissioning, startup, or regulatory deadlines.

education and/or experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related Engineering discipline required.
• Minimum 10–15 years of facilities engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, with significant experience in  upstream/midstream surface facilities.
• Prior experience in the Williston Basin or similar unconventional resource play strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading capital projects from design through startup.

COMPENSATION RANGE/RATE:

• $185,000 – $230,000 ANNUALLY
• ACTUAL COMPENSATION OFFERED TO SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE FINALIZED WITH OFFER AND MAY BE ABOVE OR BELOW THE POSTED RANGE DUE TO SKILL LEVEL, EXPERIENCE, INDUSTRY SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS OR GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION
